A Day in the Life of . . . a Youth Pastor at Kings Dominion

6:00 a.m. - Wake up and shower to prepare for the day

6:10 a.m. - Awake husband, who was asleep with his mouth open

6:30 a.m. - Attempt #1 to awake Alisa

6:40 a.m. - Attempt #2 to awake Alisa

6:45 a.m. - shaking Alisa, shaking the bed, and saying "you have 15 minutes or you're left"

7:00 a.m. - Driving to Kiddie Academy to drop off Zoe for the day

7:05 a.m. - Realization I forgot the tickets at the house for Kings Dominion

7:38 a.m. - Drop off Zoe at Kiddie Academy, get stuck with employees talking about my haircut and why I won't be at work "But who will run the center" I respond, "Eileen does a GREAT job."

8:00 a.m. - Realize we're the ones late to the church and we're leading the trip

8:05 a.m. - Arrive to the church and unpack the Taurus to load up the church bus

8:30 a.m. - Leave for Kings Dominion

9:06 a.m. - Asleep on the bus thinking to myself "Darell has this"

10:30 a.m. - Arrive to Kings Dominion, use the announcing system on the bus to remind students what time they are to arrive at the bus to eat lunch.

10:33 a.m. -  Ask the students what time they meet back on the bus for lunch, thinking to myself "they're not listening they see THE dominator and have their minds set on eating candy, funnel cakes, dippin dots, and drinking sodas all day."

11:22 a.m. - witness Muoki almost peeing his pants on a ride.  Whether its the ride or grown men crying I don't know.

12:18 a.m. - Conversation with Muoki about parties at Seacrets in OC, MD.  Watch where you put your hands!

12:55 p.m. - meeting at the Kings Dominion sign and watch Alisa walk away with two girls to not return with them.  "I didn't realize they were leaving"  I laugh to myself because they all don't realize that I've been in the same place but had much better lies that this.

2:12 p.m. - Raining begins

3:20 p.m. - Get free funnel cake with strawberries because my great husband was in the perfect spot at the perfect time.

4:15 p.m. - Riding the hurler in the rain felt like a hail storm, got off the ride thinking we were on a water ride it was raining that hard.  Not a good idea, we all felt like our hearts and stomachs were left on that one.

4:27 p.m. - Finish riding all the rides in the park, and decide to take a break on the ferris wheel or Kings Dominion calls "The Gondala".  Muoki takes a nap and passes gas . . . no he farted (because passing gas means it was silent but farting has a noise) so Muoki farts on the ride and says "oh sorry I farted" and it STUNK!  Seriously stunk and we were stuck on this ride for another 7.5 minutes and I was thinking in my head "Muoki should probably go check his pants".  Thanks Muok

5:00 p.m. - Discussion of the spelling of the word come.  Enough said, right Muoki?

5:12 p.m. - Get a phone call from Kyra that they're doing the bungee swing fall and we have to get there "like right now, we're going up" so myself, Darell, and Muoki begin running to the event.

5:13 p.m. - Man in yellow rain coat tells us to stop running

5:14 p.m. - we turned the corner and the man in the yellow rain coat wasn't visible anymore so we began to run again, I unfortunately slipped in my Teva flip flops (not the Tevas with velcro as those are disgusting!) so I stopped running.

5:39 p.m. - Walking away from Kyra and Raven's drop, arrived as they were getting unhooked and finished.  Realize we have time to ride The Dominator one more time

5:58 p.m. - Two rides away from riding the dominator when I look at Joe and say "well we're the ones late, isn't that great"  We all continue to try and get Eugene to ride it . . . with no success.

6:08 p.m. - arrive at the bus to leave and wait another 33 minutes for the other adult to arrive :(  Joe was funny.

7:15 p.m. - Eating at McDonald's, Darell leaves us to go to Subway like all good Youth Pastors do . . . leave their youth for the better food.

7:45 p.m. - Jordan spills his soda the bus and doesn't tell anyone until Jared yells, "hey why are my feet wet" and I see the soda.  Darell yells at Eugene for standing on the bus, poor Eugene he was helping to clean up the major mess on our hands.  Sticky situation.

8:11 p.m. - Fall asleep on the bus and think to myself  "Joe has this"

8:20 p.m. - Someone farts on the bus it stunk it up so bad, smelled like Muoki's on the gondala but he swore it wasn't him.  I blamed it on Jake who was asleep, that stuck and Jake has no idea but Eugene thought it was super funny.

8:45 p.m. - Arrive to the church, clean out bus, make Jordan mop up the bus from the spilled coke.

9:00 p.m. - Leave the church to go get Zoe from Grandma's house.  What a great day :)

10:15 p.m. - arrive at home and fall asleep shortly after to prepare for the next day of work at Kiddie Academy.  Better day than last years trip since no youth threw up!

Kings Dominion

So last year Darell and I got season tickets to Kings Dominion . . . then I got pregnant and really couldn't use them.  This year we're going to have a second chance.  Going to KD on Monday the 20th with Youth then again on Saturday with work.  I'm excited to spend the time with both groups of people.  Dominator here we come!  Let's hope Darell can raise his hands this trip.

Dreams

Isn't crazy how one can awake and think that their dream was . . . or is reality.  I experienced this again this morning.  Worried there was a flood and we had to get Zoe.  Not a good feeling!  Meanwhile, she's sound asleep in her crib, arms extended in the air, and unaware of anything.  Parent freaking out for their child's safety while they are completely unaware of it.  I guess there are many more years of this ahead of me, right!  In the meanwhile, we'll enjoy her innocense!

Shout Out to Muoka!  Thanks for stopping by for a visit, can't wait to hear how things turn out :)

Lessons learned @ The Pier

1.  Don't scoop ice cream onto plates for an eating contest in the kitchen with youth walking around.  I lost so much ice cream :)

2. Doing jumps during all around doesn't = allowing the youth to spin eachother.  Although they really liked it.

3. I'm proud of Muoki!

Okay so I am back for another night of blogging.

It's 10:00 p.m. and Zoe is asleep, actually passed out with her arms in the air.  I love that freedom!  Babies sleep anyway they wish.  Married people have to sleep and worry about hitting the other.  In some cases I guess, because my husband nightly beats me up by accidentally hitting me.  I can't even talk about it with him anymore because he denies it, like he doesn't know its happening.  Almost like when I talk in my sleep.  Yes folks, I can carry on a full conversation with people and not remember a single thing.  I've done this since I was in my teens I think.  Growing up my sisters would ask me to borrow something and I would talk with them during my sleep and the following day when I saw them in my clothes I would get upset . . . come to find out I had a conversation with them.  Who would've known.

So tomorrow is Youth @ The Pier.  Let's see what craziness we can bring!
